Professionals & Referrals

Working together to create meaningful days.

We welcome referrals and enquiries from social workers, commissioners, case managers, health professionals and other professionals supporting adults in the community. At OMAS, we want to work in partnership with the individual, their family and the professionals around them. Our aim is simple — to understand the person, identify what matters to them and explore whether OMAS can provide the right opportunities and support.

Finding the right opportunity

It starts with
the person.

A referral is not simply about filling an available place. We want to understand who the person is, what they enjoy, what they would like to achieve and what will help them have a meaningful and enjoyable day.

This information helps us decide together whether OMAS is the right fit.

We would like to understand

What helps someone have
a meaningful day?

“What matters to the person?”
“What do they enjoy?”
“What are their interests and strengths?”
“What would they like to learn or experience?”
“What helps them communicate and make choices?”
“What level of support or enhanced support do they require?”
“What would attending OMAS mean for them?”
Who may benefit from OMAS

OMAS may be suitable for adults
who would benefit from:

Friendship and social connection
Meaningful activities and new experiences
Maintaining or developing independence
Everyday life skills
Building confidence
Being more active in their local community
A regular and enjoyable weekly routine
Opportunities to make choices and develop personal interests
Individual or enhanced support to participate in their day

Every person is different, so we encourage professionals to speak to us even if they are unsure whether OMAS would be suitable.

Our referral process

Simple, personal
and straightforward.

1

Make an enquiry or referral

Tell us a little about the person and what they are looking for.

2

Let's talk

We'll discuss their interests, goals, communication, support needs, enhanced needs and funding arrangements.

3

Getting to know the person

Where appropriate, we will meet the individual and those involved in their support so we can understand what matters to them.

4

Visit OMAS

Come and see the environment, meet the team and experience what OMAS is about.

5

Taster day

Where appropriate, we can arrange a taster day so the person can experience OMAS before making a decision.

6

Agree the right support

If OMAS is suitable, we agree attendance days, support arrangements, funding and a start date.

I prefer ‘Getting to know the person’ rather than simply ‘Assessment’. It feels much more consistent with the OMAS approach while still allowing you to complete whatever formal assessment is required.

Working in partnership

Good support works better
when we communicate.

Where appropriate, we can work alongside families, social workers and other professionals involved in the person's life.

This can help us understand their goals, communication, preferences and support requirements and provide consistency around the individual.

We want professionals to feel comfortable contacting us, visiting OMAS and staying involved.

Funding & placements

Let's talk about
the right arrangement.

We welcome enquiries involving the following funding arrangements. If funding has not yet been finalised, professionals and families are still welcome to contact us to discuss whether OMAS could be suitable.

Local Authority funding
Direct Payments
Personal Budgets
Self-funded arrangements
